This set of hard to find C. 1915-20 vintage industrial polished nickel-plated garment factory lady stocking leg forms was fabricated by or for the old Paramount Knitting Factory located in Kankakee, Illinois. These evocative objects of industrial art are comprised of steel, with original highly polished nickel-plated finish completely intact. The weathered and worn cast iron brackets are tightly affixed to each of the forms and carry the factory label and patent number. They contain lightly incised double-sided markings corresponding to size and/or shape. the unique forms were originally used in a manufacturing process known as "boarding", whereby the pantyhose or stocking is stretched over a dry or moist leg form or "board" and subjected to steam and/or heat treatments employed to achieve the desired size and shape.
